Vanessa McLean began her career working as a housekeeper at Galore Creek. While out in the field one day, an operator let her try one of the machines and she was hooked.

Vanessa then decided to take the ITA Heavy Equipment Operator Training and pursued a career as an equipment operator. She first went to work in Alberta in the oil and gas industry, and then started as a wiggle wagon operator at the Red Chris Mine in 2015 where she quickly moved up to the 793’s. Vanessa is now a very successful equipment operator and is considering a lateral move within the industry. She enjoys working in mining and her career path demonstrates how someone can easily transfer departments and change careers within the resource development industry.
