Underground Mobile Maintenance Supervisor – 986545

Our Brucejack operation is now recruiting for the position of Underground Mobile Maintenance Supervisor with a competitive base salary between $120,000.00 – $145,000.00 dependant on experience, skills, and qualifications, with an additional short term incentive of 15% . The offered base salary will be determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills and competencies with consideration to internal equity. 

Purpose of the Role

The Underground Mobile Maintenance Supervisor’s primary responsibility is to oversee the development, implementation and optimization of an asset maintenance strategies that provides mechanical and equipment capability, reliability and availability of all Underground Production Mobile assets.  In addition, this position is responsible for assisting in the developing, monitoring planned preventive and predictive maintenance programs for the greatest operating profit while maximizing equipment efficiencies as per manufacturer’s specifications. Also responsible for a trades personnel from Heavy Duty Mechanics, Apprentices, Welders etc.

Responsibilities 

  • Supervise, co-ordinate and schedule the activities of Heavy Duty Mechanics, Welders, Apprentices and maintenance service contractors.
  • Ensure employees and contractors are following Newmont safety systems.
  • Manage data collection and information gathering to more effectively provide planned maintenance service for underground mobile production assets including but not limited to RC Drills, Bolters, Electric Rock Trucks and scoops.
  • Develop and maintain accurate maintenance plans and service schedules in an environment of ever changing priorities.
  • Provide assistance to the planning group for work scope planning for daily, weekly and long-term maintenance activities to ensure goals are achievable within the maintenance schedule.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of maintenance systems and implement alternative procedures if deemed necessary
  • Coordinate and manage labour, parts and equipment in a timely and effective manner in order to meet maintenance schedules
  • Managing and control working costs.
  • Resolve work problems and recommend measures to improve productivity
  • Train or arrange for training of workers while supervising and scheduling the activities of related apprentices, helpers and labourers
  • Other related duties as required

About You  

Position requirements include, but are not limited to:   

Qualifications

Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic or trades certification is preferred for this position or minimum of ten (10) years’ in Underground Mobile Maintenance experience, five (5) of which must be at the supervisor level. A strong background in Underground environment is necessary with demonstrated experience supervising multiple trades within mining environment. Experience in coordinating start-up and trouble-shooting.

Skills

  • Strong demonstrated knowledge of workplace safety requirements and procedures
  • Demonstrated Management abilities in both technical and operational settings
  • Strong background in Underground Mobile strategies and with control systems
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills (English)
  • Exceptional organizational, leadership, supervisory and conflict management skills
  • Computer software skills (word processing, spreadsheets)

 Additional Information

  • Work at remote location (camp) on a 13 days on/13 days off rotation
  • Able to pass a pre-employment medical screening
  • Must be able to lift/move up to 50lbs throughout a work shift
  • Be able maintain high levels of performance over 12 hour shifts
  • Able to work in areas of extreme weather conditions
  • Able to work in close quarters with the team
