Our Brucejack operation is now recruiting for an Underground Maintenance Electrician with a competitive hourly rate of $58.85 dependent on experience, skills, and competencies with consideration to internal equity with an additional short-term incentive of 10%.
The purpose of this position is to install and maintain electrical services by diagnosing and repairing electrical wiring, equipment problems in accordance with relevant codes and standards. The Underground Maintenance Electrician is accountable for the safe and timely provision of these services in an effective and efficient manner in accordance with all relevant codes and regulations.
Perform the following duties with safety being the number one priority:
- Carry out routine electrical maintenance of fixed and mobile and equipment to the required standard of performance and safety
- Inspects electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards & defects
- Diagnoses and repairs malfunctioning electrical systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem
- Read & interpret electrical, mechanical, and architectural drawings to determine wiring layouts
- Plans sketches, layout & installation of equipment and fixtures based on job specifications
- Design control panels and install circuit power distribution
- Deliver daily updates at morning meeting to communicate electrical instrumentation and/or equipment and control availability issues/actions
- Follow up on daily electrical installation and maintenance repairs to ensure all relevant components will be completed as planned
- Establish methods to meet work schedules and co-ordinate work activities with other project supervisors or managers
- Monitor and evaluate electrical components, controls & equipment operating procedures to minimize failures and downtime
- Recommend changes to installations and/or electrical maintenance procedures when deemed necessary or appropriate
- Maintain electrical systems by conducting system tests and completing preventive maintenance requirements
- Maintains safe work environment by following established codes, standards, and operating procedures
- Tests electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using test to ensure compatibility and safety of system
- Coordinate work assignments/projects in a timely manner to meet project deadlines
- Prepare time estimates for work orders and jobs to optimize resource allocation
- Communicate, engage with and influence superintendents, supervisors and workers as a ‘trusted advisor’ to mitigate risk and optimize worker performance and health & safety

About You:
- Valid inter-provincial Red Seal Electrician trade qualifications.
- 5-10 years of underground maintenance experience.
- Knowledge of underground operations.
- Familiar with the BC Mines Acts & Regulations
- Strong knowledge of Canadian codes (M421, Z462, CEC)
- Experience with Electric production/development equipment.
Additional Information:
- Work at remote location (camp) on a 13 days on/13 days off rotation with 2 days travel.
