Our Brucejack operation is now recruiting for a temporary Surface Operations Trainer with a competitive base salary between $105,000- $120,000 dependent on experience, skills, and competencies with consideration to internal equity.
Reporting to the Training Superintendent, the Surface Operations Trainer will play a key role in providing both safety and skills training for the Surface Operations employees at Knipple camp.
Perform following duties, with safety being the number one priority:
- Participate in the development of training and safety modules, policies, and standard operating procedures for the Surface Operations department.
- Develop checklists and operating training manuals for both stationary and mobile equipment.
- Maintain and update training and development materials and programs for the Surface Operations department.
- Develop and promote safety practices within the Surface Operations team.
- Assist the superintendents in establishing measurable goals and competency levels for each position and trainee.
- Conduct in-classroom training sessions.
- Provide trainees with timely feedback, coaching and mentoring.
- Maintain training documentation and ensure that records are kept up to date.
- Maintain a surface training registry.
- Ensure training activities and frequency are conducted in accordance with safety regulations and established standards.
- Conduct annual training needs analysis and updates.
- Assist superintendents and supervisors identify talent, develop career pathways, and provide progressive training to maintain skilled employees.
- Participate in root cause analysis and incident investigation as required.
- Write clear & concise work procedures.

About You:
Position requirements include, but are not limited to:
- Possess Train the Trainer or Registered professional trainer (RPT) qualifications.
- Knowledge of surface equipment and operations, with a minimum of 10 years experience operating equipment.
- Excellent classroom training and presentation skills, with a minimum of 5 years experience as a trainer.
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook & Teams programs) are required. Experience with Learning Management Systems such as SAP SuccessFactors or Vista would be an asset.
- Experienced in writing and developing procedures is required.
- Knowledge of industrial hygiene and familiarity with the BC Mines Acts & Regulations.
- Excellent administrative and organizational skills with the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

- Work at remote location (camp) on a 14 days on/14 days off rotation
- Able to pass a pre-employment medical screening.
- Must be able to lift/move up to 50lbs throughout a work shift.
- Be able maintain high levels of performance over 12-hour shifts.
- Able to work in areas of extreme weather conditions.
- Able to work in close quarters with a team.
