Our Brucejack operation is now recruiting for the position of Surface Operations Superintendent with a competitive base salary between $143,000.00 – $162,000.00 dependant on experience, skills, and qualifications, with an additional short term incentive of 20% . The offered base salary will be determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills and competencies with consideration to internal equity.
Purpose of the Role
The Surface Operations Superintendent is responsible for planning, directing and coordinating the day-to-day operations at the Brucejack Mine. The Superintendent is also responsible for establishing and directing surface operations policies while overseeing the utilization of resources to successfully complete construction and maintenance projects.
Accountabilities
Perform following duties with safety being the number one priority:
- Directs employees and ensures they complete projects within set deadlines
- Develops and implement plans for the safe, efficient operation of site mobile equipment operators, labourers, and snow-shovellers
- Maintain high safety and environmental standards at site
- Formulates working routines and procedures that must be observed by operational staff to achieve the company’s objectives
- Evaluates operating procedures, policies and regulations while supervising and evaluating the work performance of equipment operators, labourers, and other assigned personnel to ensure objectives are met
- Oversees day-to-day and facility operations while providing direction to supervisors, employees, contractors and other stakeholders
- Ensures that operational and administrative records are kept in an efficient and organized manner
- Develop and manage operational and capital budgets and complete relevant project progress reports for senior-level managers
- Ensures that personnel issues are addressed quickly and effectively through consultation with the Human Resources Department
- Provide guidance to employees on work related matters to ensure tasks are clearly understood and serve as the liaison between workers and the company’s senior personnel while communicating with various departments to ensure seamless workflow and availability of materials and resources to complete projects in a safe and efficient manner
- Conduct regular reviews of financial statements and other documents to ensure efficient and profitable operations
- Implements and coordinates production strategies as well as labour, materials and equipment resources requirements to meet production goals and schedules while ensuring all relevant personnel are aware and understand productivity requirements
- Evaluate efficiency of production sites and recommend operational changes to ensure that production quotas and procedures are met
- Foster a team environment
- Develop and generate Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) where required
- Ensure a constructive and creative environment for business improvement within the Site Services Manager
- Take part in regular scheduling meetings with the Surface Planning department to meet weekly, monthly scheduled works that are required
- Participate at least twice in the Site Services safety meetings
- Develop concise crossover notes to facilitate interdepartmental communication
- In some special cases you will be involved in projects pertaining to the Maintenance Department. This includes the communication for underground backbone system currently under development.
- From time to time you will need to assist with Maintenance functions as required or when asked for to do so

About You
Position requirements include, but are not limited to:
High school (GED equivalent)
Skills
- Demonstrated Management abilities in both technical and operational settings
- Experience working in an industrial or mine planning and production environment
- Excellent oral and written communication skills (English)
- A team player and have the ability to work under intense pressure
- Demonstrated strong supervisory skills
- Proficiency in the preparation of operating and capital budgets
- Project and contract management experience
- Strong demonstrated leadership, communication and conflict resolution skills
- Computer software skills (e.g. word processing, spreadsheet and system tracking software applications)
- Strong demonstrated knowledge of workplace safety requirements and procedures

Additional Information
- Work at remote location (camp) on a 13 days on/13 days off rotation and 2 travel days
- Able to pass a pre-employment medical screening
- Be able maintain high levels of performance over 12 hour shifts
- Able to work in areas of extreme weather conditions
- Able to work in close quarters with the team
