Surface Fixed Plant Maintenance Supervisor – 986408

Our Brucejack operation is now recruiting for the position of  Surface Fixed Plant Maintenance Supervisor with a competitive base salary between $110,000- $140,000 dependant on experience, skills, and qualifications, with a short term incentive of 15%. The offered base salary will be determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills and competencies with consideration to internal equity. 

Job Purpose and accountability

The Surface Fixed Plant Supervisor’s primary responsibility is to oversee surface fixed plant maintenance services as it pertains to Brucejack surface facilities except the Mill. The incumbent is also responsible for ensuring that equipment & materials are readily available and that all work is performed safely and in keeping with rules, regulations & policies.

Responsibilities

  • Review daily work plans with team and assess job priorities.
  • Plan, coordinate & schedule the daily maintenance work and ensure equipment & materials are available. 
  • Work together with schedulers and planners to ensure that proper planning and scheduling of activities are accomplished throughout the camp facilities, out lying buildings, propane systems and various pipelines and Brucejack, Knipple and Wildfire.
  • Work closely with camp facility team leads including kitchen staff and camp facility personal.
  • Consult/collaborate with Contractors and relevant site management teams to communicate daily activities & assign appropriate personnel to specific tasks as required.
  • Communicate with site logistics personnel to avoid conflicting transportation/supply issues. 
  • Monitor work projects to ensure progress runs smoothly assessing/addressing challenges or possible changes to the plan.
  • Ensure safety is given highest priority and document/report any related safety incidents or infractions.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues/problems and provide guidance to maintenance personnel and work crews in order to resolve the situation.
  • Evaluate contract/crew performance and make recommendations for change where required.
  • Assist with training & development of employees giving clear directions as to project goals to ensure project objectives are completed on schedule.
  • Review budget allocations while tracking & recording Labour, Equipment and Materials (LEM’s) being utilized.
  • Lead daily safety meetings and ensure the development of job hazard analysis (JHA’s) to ensure compliance with Newmonts Health & Safety policies.
  • Other duties as required.

About You  

Position requirements include, but are not limited to:   

Qualifications

Journey person read seal in a relevant trade, Millwright, Plumber or gas fitter and asset. At least ten (10) years of experience in an industrial or mine setting while leading a multidisciplinary trade group. The incumbent must have demonstrated project & contract management experience combined with strong demonstrated leadership, supervisory and conflict resolution expertise. Experience with maintenance related software modules such as SAP is an asset

Skills

  • Strong working knowledge of relevant equipment capabilities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills (English)
  • A team player and have the ability to work under intense pressure
  • Computer software skills (i.e. word processing, spreadsheet, MS Project etc.)
  • Strong demonstrated knowledge of workplace safety requirements and procedures
  • Analytical, problem solving and time management skills

  • Able and willing to work at a remote camp location on a 2-week rotation schedule.
