Our Red Chris operation is now recruiting for the position of Supervisor – Mill Operations with a competitive base salary between $109,000.00 – $129,000.00 dependant on experience, skills, and qualifications. The offered base salary will be determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills and competencies with consideration to internal equity. 

We are seeking an individual for a Fly In, Fly Out opportunity working on a two weeks in, two weeks out rotation.  

Purpose of the Role  

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Supervisor – Mill Operation to join our Red Chris Mine in Northwest British Columbia with a competitive base salary between $109,650.00 – $129,000.00 dependant on experience, skills, and qualifications. 

Reporting to the Mill Superintendent, you will be a key member of the site management team providing direction and oversight for the Mill Operations Teams. As the Mill Operations Supervisor, you are responsible for coordinating the employees in the Mill to achieve desired Mill throughput in an efficient manner with a proactive approach to safety. Mill Operations Supervisor will also work closely with the Process Control, Metallurgy, Assay Lab and other Department Heads to achieve mutual goals.

Accountabilities

Principal Duties 

Reporting to the Mill Superintendent, the Mill Operations Supervisor will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring compliance with all safety, quality, schedule, budget and security requirements.
  • Plan and supervise crew activities in accordance with production and maintenance schedules.
  • Coach and develop employees through communication and measurement of performance, competency training and provide appropriate on-going feedback.
  • Actively participate in the development of training and safety programs.
  • Create, maintain and improve operational procedures.
  • Maintain and utilize the company’s equipment, assets, and resources to ensure production, utilization and long term sustainability.
  • Perform daily plant inspections and interactions with personnel to ensure safety, environmental compliance, housekeeping and equipment availability.
  • Communicate with other departments to achieve daily plant priorities.
  • Demonstrate awareness and commitment to health, community, environmental protection and take action to ensure that unsafe practices or non-compliant behaviors do not occur.

Occupational Health and Safety

Mill Operations Supervisor;

  • Ensure the safe operation of equipment in their area.
  • Wear all required PPE.
  • Adhere to all safety standards.
  • Adhere to all relevant SOP’S and follow safe operating practices.
  • Identify and report dangerous occurrences. HSRC (sec. 1.7.1 – 1.7.3)

Teamwork

Mill Operations Supervisor must;

  • Participate in crew meetings.
  • Lead the development of a positive working atmosphere.

Qualifications & Experience 

  • Minimum high school diploma or GED.
  • Must have a minimum of 10 years of operating experience in mineral processing with 5 years of progressive supervisory experience preferably in open pit copper mining/milling operations.
  • BC mine Supervisor ticket(required)
  • Demonstrated knowledge in crushing, grinding, flotation, and thickening processes.
  • Must have Control Room /DeltaV DCS experience.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills are essential.
  • Personnel motivation, training and development skills are essential.
  • Effective conflict resolution and decision making.
  • Effective operational troubleshooting skills.
  • Intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Valid driver’s license.
