Our Red Chris operation is now recruiting for the position of Superintendent – Electrical and Instrumentation with a competitive base salary between $144,500.00 – $170,000.00 dependant on experience, skills, and qualifications, with an additional short term incentive of 20%. The offered base salary will be determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills and competencies with consideration to internal equity.
We are seeking an individual for a Fly In, Fly Out opportunity working on a two weeks in, two weeks out rotation.
Purpose of the Role
The Electrical and Instrumentation Superintendent is responsible to oversee the maintenance and repair of all electrical and instrumentation systems at Red Chris Mine. The successful candidate will maintain the safety of yourself, direct reports and team members while working closely with planners, Reliability and Supervisor’s to ensure that all electrical jobs are completed – safely, efficiently and economically. The superintendent will lead a team of technicians and work closely with other departments to ensure optimal performance of all the mine’s operational electric and instrumentation needs while ensuring that all electrical and instrumentation equipment operates efficiently, safely, and in compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
Responsibilities
Technical Accountabilities:
- Ensure the safety, reliability and cost efficiency of site-wide electrical and instrumentation needs
- Provide leadership, coaching and guidance to the electrical and instrumentation team.
- Conduct performance evaluations to identify operational limitations and initiate steps to enhance system performance.
- Ensure sufficient spares are available and maintained for critical equipment.
- Ensure critical equipment has redundancy or is backed-up and is protected from fire or other threats.
- Statutory systems are maintained, audited, and treated according to the relevant legislation.
- Ensure compliance with change management procedures with bridge logs and registers kept up to date and audited regularly.
- Manage all Elecrical/Instumentation Maintenance and repair for operation of process plant and assets.
- Delivery of robust, cost-effective engineering solutions, compliant with site standards.
- Provide technical support, guidance, and coaching to site personnel on systems, statutory compliance and technical matters related to electrical and instrumentation ; and,
- Solve problems and investigate innovative solutions.

- Ensure the ESMP/HVSMP Plans are adhered to. (Electrical Safety Management Plan and High Voltage Safety Management Plan)
General Accountabilities:
- Provide leadership, mentoring and coaching to your direct team.
- Report diligently to manager & senior leadership team on any critical activities.
- Stand-in for the manager when required.
- Management of contracts and contractors under your control including budgets, timelines, support visits, and safety performance; and,
- Act as the Newmont SEA (Site Electrical Authority for Red Chris)

About You
Position requirements include, but are not limited to:
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in a mining or heavy industry environment
- Successful completion of Grade 12 and a certified Master Journeyperson Electrician required
- Working knowledge of electrical systems, such as variable frequency drives, protective relays, medium voltage drives, transformers and switchgear, and power distribution systems;
- Understanding of Programmable Logic Controllers and associated I/O
