Our Vancouver Hub Finance team is now recruiting for the position of Site Business Manager with a competitive base salary between $156,000.00 – $195,000.00 per year. The offered base salary will be determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies, with consideration to internal equity.

Purpose of the Role:

The Site Business Manager provides strategic and financial leadership for the Newmont North America Red Chris Operations. The incumbent is responsible for coordinating and maintaining the business planning and financial analysis processes to support sound business decisions. Through oversight of these site-based systems and processes, the Site Business Manager works in consultation with departmental stakeholders to ensure continual improvement. The Site Business Manager reports to the Head, Finance, North America, and concurrently works directly with the Red Chris General Manager and Site Leadership team on all finance-related site matters.

We are seeking one individual for a Full-time position, working primarily in Vancouver, Canada, with occasional travel to site and other hubs, as required.

Accountabilities

  • Site lead for the annual business planning processes, including delivery of annual business plans and monthly/quarterly forecasts for the operation
  • Support decision making through economic modelling and analysis. Interpret operating results as they affect the financial position of the operation and make recommendations in relation to cost reduction, profit improvement, capital management and risk reduction.
  • Responsible for leading the Site Investment Council which includes oversight of all site investment proposals
  • Lead the team responsible for monthly operating and capital expenditure reporting and analysis, including month end accruals
  • Proactively support career development of the site finance team; continue to develop capabilities of team members to enhance quality of cost analysis and business planning processes
  • Support operations teams with execution of Scenario Planning and Full Potential processes
  • Provide support for requests from the controllership, business planning, internal/external audit, tax, and treasury functions
  • Support Finance systems integration and updates

About You

Knowledge and Experience

  • University degree in Accounting/Finance or Engineering (with an MBA), with hands-on financial or operational accounting experience
  • 10 years or more of related professional work experience, with direct exposure to mining operations
  • Proven ability to work effectively with internal stakeholders across the Newmont organization
  • Proven track record of leading and motivating high performing teams

Skills and Abilities

  • Effective communicator with strong presentation skills (oral and written)
  • Comfortable in a complex and fast-moving environment in which you will be expected to provide timely decision support and meaningful analytics to drive value in the operation
  • Extensive experience with budgeting, forecasting, capital planning and financial analysis
  • Knowledge of SAP and/or other ERP and reporting systems highly desired
