Our Red Chris operation is now recruiting for the position of Reliability Specialist with a competitive base salary between $109,000.00 – $129,000.00 dependant on experience, skills, and qualifications. The offered base salary will be determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills and competencies with consideration to internal equity. 

We are seeking an individual for a Fly In, Fly Out opportunity working on a two weeks in, two weeks out rotation.  

 

Purpose of the Role

Reliability Specialist role is to identify and manage asset risks that could adversely affect plant or business operations. The role is focused on lowering costs, and improve productivity by addressing loss elimination, risk management and life cycle asset management of the sites Mobile Fleet Assets. . The role is FIFO 15/13 roster reporting to the Planning & Reliability Superintendent

 

Accountabilities

Health & Safety

  • Follow and comply with the Newcrest Red Chris health & safety standards, procedures, guidelines and rules and encourage others to do so. Do not tolerate, accept or walk past non-compliance to safety standards, procedures, guidelines and rules
  • Ensure the safety of yourself and all other people around you
  • Actively participate in the Red Chris safety initiatives
  • Ensure statutory requirements are met under your control
  • Maintain a safe workplace compliant with regulations and Newcrest policies, procedures and standards
  • Ensure all NewSafe initiatives are supported and actioned in a timely manner

Reliability Engineering

  • Perform analysis of failure data using statistical analysis tools
  • Work with the Planning Teams to ensure that all critical equipment have complete maintenance strategies.
  • Uses Lean Six Sigma and RCM concepts where applicable to optimize work processes, adapt maintenance tools and procedures to improve equipment utilization and reliability.
  • Provide “design for reliability” input into capital projects.
  • Manage reliability projects and interact with vendors to achieve project goals.
  • Lead problem-solving teams to identify, design, and implement improvements.
  • Facilitate and manage adhoc work teams.
  • Statistically analyse equipment and process performance to assess reliability, maintainability, and availability.
  •  Maintain Reliability KPI dashboard including bad actors report, MTBF, percentage of critical equipment with maintenance strategies developed using RCM.
  • Lead efforts to review and replenish critical spares inventory
  • Establish and optimize component benchmarks for key components. 
  • Define and steward the implementation of condition monitoring activities. Analyze results collected by technicians and data systems. Identify and scope subsequent work.
  • Identify risks to business operations and develop corrective actions.
  • Identify, define the requirements, and ensure acceptable completion of statutory maintenance.
  • Contribute to the operational readiness of new assets through tactics development, risks and criticality assessment.

About You  

Position requirements include, but are not limited to:   

Qualifications (essential and desirable):

  • Successful completion of an engineering degree with a focus on reliability
  • Red Seal Tradesperson with 5-7 years of reliability improvement experience
  • Maintenance Management Professional (MMP) and or Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) accreditation
  • Experience with Six Sigma approach and methodology for eliminating defects and waste
  • 5 – 7 years’ experience in maintenance improvement roles

Behavioural Competencies

  • The ability to interact with the Maintenance teams to dig into the causes of failures. Demonstrate an overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility
  • Operate with minimal direct supervision. The employee is expected to operate with autonomy and accountability, requesting direction as necessary
  • Complete scheduled tasks in a timely manner with appropriate prioritization of work
  • Develop relationships with other departments and employees to ensure problems are addressed and resolved effectively in a timely manner
  • Aptitude for hands-on work coupled with strong analytical skills.

Technical Capabilities

  • Provide training and facilitation on RCA, RCM, FMEA with Production and Maintenance teams
  • Ability to complete prevent maintenance optimization (PMO) on current maintenance strategies
  • Identify reliability opportunities and translate them into cost savings
  • Proficiently runs meetings and get consensus and agreement to action decisions
  • Ability to communicate and execute the Newcrest Maintenance Business Processes

Required Knowledge and Experience (essential and desirable):

  • Proficient with the interpretation of technical manual, blueprints, and process instrumentation drawings
  • Familiar with Availability Workbench
  • Familiar with ProAct RCA software
  • Proficient with MS Windows and Office products
  • Reliability modelling and prediction
  • Ability to use Microsoft Excel to analyse and communicate data sets
  • Ability to interpret data sets and identify negative trends in;
    • Asset Utilization
    • Overall Equipment Effectiveness
    • Remaining useful life
    • Other parameters that define operating condition, reliability and costs of assets
    • Proven track-record of improving plant up-time through comprehensive root-cause analysis and maintenance problem elimination
  • Working Experience with Front Shovels Komatsu PC7000E-6, P&H 2800XPB and Hitachi EX3600-6-LD as well as Sandvik Drills DR412i and DI650i would be considered an asset.
