Our Brucejack and Red Chris Health & Safety team is now recruiting for the position of Registered Nurse with a competitive hourly wage of $57-62/hr dependent on experience, skills, and competencies with consideration to internal equity.
The RN(C) addresses the primary health care needs of the camp population. RNCs have extensive and experience working within industrial camps, remote communities, and First Nations populations. The RNC is the lead camp medical resource and work closely with the medical team to ensure the highest quality care is delivered. RNCs have an independent scope of practice that allows prescription and dispensing of a wide range of medications (including antibiotics) to address a range of cardiovascular, respiratory, GI, musculoskeletal, skin, dental and ears, nose, and throat ailments. RNCs independently dispense medications and escalate care when required.
General Duties will include:
- Provide clinical care to patients
- Provide critical care and emergency procedures to stabilize patients
- Manage patient care with the patient's health foremost but mitigating impact on the Northern Health care system
- Assess patients prior to dispensing Over-the-Counter (OTC) medications
- Ability to administer appropriate pain medication within scope and consultation with physician support (morphine, Toradol, etc)
- Ability to suture if required
- Securely store prescription medications and monitor and manage clinic inventory
- Maintain medical records
- Prepare various reports for Mine Management and Northern Health
- Oversee inventory of all clinic related supplies and complete requisitions for purchase of additional supplies as needed
- Maintain patient records in such a way that patient confidentiality is assured
- Liaise with off-site health care providers at the regional hospitals and in employees home communities
- Overseeing communicable disease management
- Comfortable with on-call and after hours services when required to support healthcare needs at site
- Assuring quality patient care by adhering to relevant therapeutic and medical standards and regulations, and measuring health outcomes of individual patients against pre-determined healthcare goals.
- Resolving patient healthcare problems by utilising multidisciplinary team strategies.
- Maintaining a safe and clean working environment by complying with relevant procedures, rules and regulations and calling for assistance from additional ESO medic staff where necessary
- Administrating required dosage of medication to patients and operating any medical equipment designed to assist their healthcare outcomes.
- Ensure Injury Management process is strictly adhered to as per Injury Management and return to work procedure.
About You:
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience as an RN preferably in Emergency or Rural setting.
- Remote Certified Practice (with minimum 3 year experience) would be an asset.
- CPR
- ACLS
- EPICC/TNCC
- Registered in BC in good standing.
- Experience with liaising with/for patient transfers.
- Comfortable in autonomous practice where resources are limited.
Additional Information
- Work at remote location (camp) on 13 days on, 12 days off schedule
- Able to pass a pre-employment medical screening.
- Must be able to lift/move up to 50lbs throughout a work shift.
- Be able maintain high levels of performance over 12-hour shifts.
- Able to work in areas of extreme weather conditions.
- Able to work in close quarters with the team.
