Our Red Chris operation is now recruiting for the position of Production Shovel – Loader Operator with a competitive hourly rate of $46.84. 

We are seeking an individual for a Fly In, Fly Out opportunity working on a two weeks in, two weeks out rotation.  

Role Purpose

This role reports to the Supervisor of Mining and will be responsible for the safe and productive operation of hydraulic/electric shovels and production loaders.

Accountabilities

Safety: Demonstrate absolute commitment in providing a safe working environment by:

  • Promote and maintain a culture of ‘safe production’ by compliance with company safety systems, policies, procedures and accountabilities
  • Ensure all incidents, near miss and hazards are reported
  • Display behaviour consistent with Newcrest’s Code of Conduct

Technical Accountabilities

  • Productively load haul trucks with waste/ore material
  • Operate shovels/PL in a safe and efficient manner, perform pre-trip inspections, complete FLHAs on a regular basis
  • Operate other pieces of heavy equipment as required
  • Conduct inspections of the work area prior to work beginning
  • Working with a digital fleet management system

Qualifications & Experience

  • 3-5 years experience in a open pit mine
  • Heavy equipment experience in a open pit mine
  • 2+ years operating rope shovel and hydraulic shovel
  • Experience operating large front end loader
  • Class 5 drivers licence is required
  • Mine Rescue training considered an asset
