Role Purpose
This role reports to the Supervisor of Mining and will be responsible for the safe and productive operation of hydraulic/electric shovels and production loaders.

Accountabilities
Safety: Demonstrate absolute commitment in providing a safe working environment by:
- Promote and maintain a culture of ‘safe production’ by compliance with company safety systems, policies, procedures and accountabilities
- Ensure all incidents, near miss and hazards are reported
- Display behaviour consistent with Newcrest’s Code of Conduct
Technical Accountabilities
- Productively load haul trucks with waste/ore material
- Operate shovels/PL in a safe and efficient manner, perform pre-trip inspections, complete FLHAs on a regular basis
- Operate other pieces of heavy equipment as required
- Conduct inspections of the work area prior to work beginning
- Working with a digital fleet management system
Qualifications & Experience
- 3-5 years experience in a open pit mine
- Heavy equipment experience in a open pit mine
- 2+ years operating rope shovel and hydraulic shovel
- Experience operating large front end loader
- Class 5 drivers licence is required
- Mine Rescue training considered an asset
