Our Brucejack operation is now recruiting for a Production Engineer with a competitive base salary between $95,000 – $112,000 dependent on experience, skills, and qualifications with an additional short-term incentive of 10%. The offered base salary will be determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies with consideration to internal equity.

The Production Engineer supports the mine operations team at the Brucejack Mine with the development and execution of the mine plan and underground operations. The Production Engineer’s key responsibility is to track and coordinate underground work with both the technical services and mine operations teams to ensure the successful development and execution of the short term mine plan. The incumbent is also responsible for supporting underground projects, QA/QC programs, Key performance indicator (KPI) data collection and reporting to support safe and efficient mine operations.

The Production Engineer will also be required to evaluate the operational performance of individual and or entire mining processes, looking for productivity and cost opportunities, making comparisons to other alternate equipment or processes when necessary.

Perform the following duties with safety being the number one priority:

  • Complete field inspections to identify required work for upcoming areas.
  • Track, prioritise and coordinate weekly underground tasks including backfill, ground support, rehab, and miscellaneous scoop work.
  • Deliver daily updates at morning meetings to communicate and/or clarify planning activities.
  • Communicate with operations and technical service teams regarding the status of underground activities and priorities.
  • Support underground projects including battery electric vehicles, mine services, safety initiatives and capital projects.
  • Track operational and performance and provide recommendations by collecting data and generating key performance indicator (KPI) reports.
  • Critiques costs and operational practices of all mining areas, making recommendations for changes and/or improvements.
  • Support the creation of yearly budgets and submit purchase requests for operating and capital items for the mine operations department.
  • Assist with implementation of underground standards and QA/QC programs, including for production drilling, ground support, and mine services.
  • Conduct regular field inspections to ensure work is being done safely and in accordance to Newmont standards.
  • Fill in for Mine Coordinators and Underground Mine Supervisors when necessary.
  • Conduct other activities to support safe, efficient, and successful underground operations.

About You:

Position requirements include but are not limited to:

  • A Degree in Engineering (Mining preferred) from an accredited Institution.
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in an underground mining environment.
  • Registered professional engineer (P.Eng) with Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia.
  • Experience and familiarity with Deswik mine planning software (CAD, MDM, and Scheduler) required.
  • BC Mine Supervisor Certificate (preferred)
  • Valid class 5 driver’s licence and ability to drive manual transmission vehicles underground.

Additional Information

  • Work at remote location (Brucejack Site) on a 13 days on/13 days off rotation
  • Able to pass a pre-employment medical screening.
  • Must be able to lift/move up to 50lbs throughout a work shift.
  • Be able to maintain high levels of performance over 12-hour shifts.
  • Able to work in areas of extreme weather conditions.
  • Able to work in close quarters with the team.
