Our Brucejack operation is now recruiting for a Mining Engineer – Short Term Planning with a competitive base salary between $87,000- $100,000 dependent on experience, skills, and qualifications with an additional short-term incentive of 10%. The offered base salary will be determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies with consideration to internal equity.
The purpose of the position is to support the Technical Services group with short-term plans that complement the issued 3-month forecast. The successful candidate will be able to work with supervision and produce required timelines, designs, and operational decisions. The role will require multi-disciplinary cooperation and understanding across the different mining groups.
Perform the following duties with safety being the number one priority:
- Responsible for the planning and distribution of short term (1 week to 1 month) mining plans based on 3-month plans
- Develop and maintain monitoring processes to identify improvements of production key performance indicators (KPI’s) for Short Interval Control.
- Assist in the collection of data for continuous feedback into 3 month and short-term planning
- Assist with short to mid-range planning of all underground mining activities
- Issue drawings while contributing to the development of the mine’s operating schedule
- Through consultation and collaboration with the engineering and geology teams, ensure that grade control and plant quality feed requirements are met
- Incorporate relevant financial and economical parameters into short term mining decisions
- Monitor, assess and evaluate adherence of short-term plans and advise of corrective actions on any deviations or required changes
- Complete reconciliations of actual versus target production performance
- Prepare weekly plans based on inputs from geotechnical, drill and blast, mine operations and long-term planning inputs
- Independently host short term production meetings that incorporate stope design requirements into short range needs
- Help maintain, and improve current Deswik MDM database
- Develop, establish, and maintain a management information system while conducting benchmark exercises to improve mining operations
- Mentor, train, and supervise junior engineers and other staff members as may be necessary

About You:
Position requirements include but are not limited to:
- BSc. Degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, or equivalent education. Preference will be given to candidates with experience working in underground mines.
- Registration or eligible for registration as a GIT/EIT or P.Geo/P.Eng with EGBC is a requirement.
- Advanced computer skills (i.e.. AutoCAD, Deswik, Vulcan, Microsoft Office etc.)
- Strong interpersonal skills and team player to work with coworkers and contractors.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills (English)
- Ability to liaise effectively with management teams and deal with complex problems
- Strong knowledge of Federal and Provincial mining & safety legislation and regulations.
Additional Information
- Work at remote location (Brucejack Site) on a 13 days on/13 days off rotation
- Able to pass a pre-employment medical screening.
- Must be able to lift/move up to 50lbs throughout a work shift.
- Be able to maintain high levels of performance over 12-hour shifts.
- Able to work in areas of extreme weather conditions.
- Able to work in close quarters with the team.
