Following the recent acquisition of Pretivm, Newcrest now own and operate the Brucejack Mine located 65 kilometers north of the town of Stewart in northern British Columbia. 

The Brucejack underground mine is one of the largest and highest-grade gold mines globally and as of January 1, 2021 has proven and probable mineral reserves of 3.9 million ounces of gold (14.4 million tonnes grading 8.3 grams per tonne gold) with a mine life of 12 years.

The Opportunity:

We currently have an opportunity for a Mill Operator to join the Brucejack Mine in Northwestern, British Columbia

This position ensures the safe and efficient operation of the Brucejack Mineral Process Plant unit processes including, Underground Crushing & Conveying, Grinding/Gravity, Floatation and Tailings/Paste Backfill and associated equipment within the unit process the incumbent is assigned to. Ensuring all equipment within the process is operating at the highest standards for safe and effective performance.

Perform the following duties with safety being the number one priority:

  • Monitor Unit Process, perform all checks, to ensure efficient operation at maximum throughput
  • Communicate within mill department to ensure optimal plant performance
  • Identify process improvement opportunities
  • Report all defects to ensure they can be remedied in a timely manner
  • Work independently, but also be effective within a team environment
  • Ensure that Safety issues, Incidents & Near Misses are reported and promptly remedied
  • Demonstrate safety leadership within a team environment and promote environmental awareness in all work or task related duties
  • Maintain a high standard of performance in your duties
  • Be able to conduct training and provide mentorship to trainees
  • Be an effective communicator in English (verbal and written) at all levels, including keeping your cross-shift and other team members fully informed at all times
  • Participate in site specific training
  • Other relevant duties as required

About You:

  • Minimum five years experience in a Mineral Process Operating position including SAG / Ball Mill Grinding, Gravity Floatation, Concentrate Dewatering and Tailings/Paste Backfill Operations.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Must have a valid drivers’ license.
  • Able to operate or be trained in the operation of fork lifts, skid steer loader and other mobile equipment relevant to the position requirements.
  • Able to effectively trouble shoot and resolve the Process Unit upset conditions to minimize production interruption.
  • Working knowledge of operations, care and maintenance of Mineral Processing Equipment
  • Previous start-up and commissioning experience is an asset.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to adjust to rapidly changing priorities.
  • Demonstrated time management and decision making skills.
  • Work at remote location (camp) on a 14 days on/12 days off rotation.
  • Must be able to lift/move up to 50lbs throughout a work shift.
  • Be able maintain high levels of performance over 12 hour shifts day or night.
  • Able to work in areas of extreme weather conditions.
