Our Brucejack operation is now recruiting for a Mill Operator 6 with a competitive hourly rate of $38.48 dependent on experience, skills, and competencies with consideration to internal equity with an additional short-term incentive of 10%.
The purpose of the position is to ensure safe, efficient, and effective operation of the processing circuits and equipment within the mill. Ensures equipment within the process circuits are competently operated at the highest standards to achieve the defined targets of the Brucejack Mill. The position also ensures compliance with all Health & Safety and other relevant policies and regulations.
Perform the following duties with safety being the number one priority:
- Demonstrate safety leadership within a team environment and promote environmental awareness in all work or task related duties.
- Perform required checks and record detailed operating information and notes in log sheets.
- Demonstrate initiative in maintaining a high standard of work in their daily duties.
- Demonstrate a commitment to attendance and punctuality in accordance with Newmont’s policies and expectations.
- Work with and assist the maintenance team as required to ensure equipment is in optimal operating condition to avoid unnecessary downtime or delays.
- Inform co-workers and supervisors of any recognized issues.
- Prepare working area and adhere to all job safety requirements prior to starting work and keeping the work area safe and free of hazards.
- Participate in site specific training.
- Perform related duties, including operation of other circuits or processes as required.

About You:
Position requirements include, but are not limited to:
- Have a strong understanding of all safety requirements at the Brucejack Mill.
- Basic operation of at least one process circuit or equipment in-line with Mill Operation’s Line of Progression
- Able to effectively trouble shoot and resolve process circuit upset conditions to minimize production losses.
- Previous mineral processing experience is desired.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to adjust to rapidly changing priorities.
- Self-motivated, team-player with good interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated time management and decision-making skills.
- Cross cultural awareness with an understanding and sensitivity of the challenges associated with differences in cultural and economic backgrounds.
Additional Information
- Work at remote location (camp) on a 14 days on/14 days off rotation.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Must have a valid drivers’ license.
- Able to pass a pre-employment medical screening and a criminal background check.
- Must be able to lift/move up to 50lbs throughout a work shift.
- Be able maintain high levels of performance over 12-hour shifts day or night.
- Able to work in areas of extreme weather conditions.
- Able to work in close quarters with the team.
