Our Brucejack operation is now recruiting for a Mill Maintenance Electrician with a competitive wage of $57.88 dependent on experience, skills, and competencies with consideration to internal equity with an additional short-term incentive of 10%.
The purpose of this position is to install and maintain electrical services by diagnosing and repairing electrical wiring, equipment problems and power generation in accordance with relevant codes. The Maintenance Electrician is accountable for the safe and timely provision of these services in an effective and efficient manner in accordance with all relevant codes and regulations.
Perform the following duties with safety being the number one priority:
- Inspects electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards & defects.
- Diagnoses and repairs malfunctioning electrical systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
- Read & interpret electrical, mechanical, and architectural drawings to determine wiring layouts.
- Plans sketches, layout & installation of equipment and fixtures based on job specifications.
- Design control panels and install circuit power distribution.
- Deliver daily updates at morning meeting to communicate electrical instrumentation and/or equipment and control availability issues/actions.
- Follow up on daily electrical installation and maintenance repairs to ensure all relevant components will be completed as planned.
- Establish methods to meet work schedules and co-ordinate work activities with other project supervisors or managers.
- Monitor and evaluate electrical instrumentation, controls & equipment operating procedures to minimize failures and downtime.
- Recommend changes to installations and/or electrical maintenance procedures when deemed necessary or appropriate.
- Maintains electrical systems by conducting system tests and completing preventive maintenance requirements.
- Maintains safe work environment by following established codes, standards and operating procedures.
- Tests electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
- Coordinate work assignments/projects in a timely manner to meet project deadlines.
- Prepare time estimates for work orders and jobs to optimize resource allocation.
- To perform underground maintenance and repairs.
- Perform other related duties as required.

About You
Position requirements include, but are not limited to:
- Valid inter-provincial Red Seal electrical certification trade qualification complimented with a minimum of seven (7) years or more of progressively related experience in a mining or industrial setting.
- Strong working knowledge of components such as switchgear, transformers, and cabling
- Detail and results oriented with the ability to adhere to shifting priorities and deadlines.
- Good mathematical, scientific, mechanical, and logical reasoning abilities
- Experience in maintaining and troubleshooting Eaton VFDs
- Strong knowledge of regulations regarding the installation of high voltage power systems would be an asset. Familiarity with 138kV/69kV/5kV/600V/480V switchgear and operation would also be an asset.
- PSSP (Power Systems Safety Protection) certified an asset.
- Strong knowledge of safety procedures to access high voltage environments and equipment
- Underground electrical experience would be an asset.
Additional Information
- Work at remote location (camp) on 13 days on, 13 days off rotation with 2 travel days.
- Able to pass a pre-employment medical screening.
- Must be able to lift/move up to 50lbs throughout a work shift.
- Be able to maintain high levels of performance over 12-hour shifts.
- Able to work in areas of extreme weather conditions.
- Able to work in close quarters with the team.
