Our Brucejack operation is now recruiting for the position of Lubrication Specialist with a competitive base salary between $127,206 – $145,925 dependent on experience, skills, and competencies with consideration to internal equity with an additional short-term incentive of 15%.

The Lubrication Specialist is responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and longevity of mechanical machinery by enhancing lubrication methods across the entire Brucejack maintenance department. The role will focus on fixed plant assets, and support assets across the fleet, underground, and surface maintenance groups. As part of the Brucejack reliability team, the lubrication specialist will support the Maintenance Department as an advisor, and contributing to improvement projects, condition monitoring, and root case failure analysis.

Perform following duties, with safety being the number one priority:

  • Lead the site-wide Lubrication Program to enhance asset reliability by ensuring machinery is always protected by the right lubrication type, amount, quality, application method, and frequency. 
  • Provide best practice lubrication, contamination control, handling, and proactive maintenance activities for all lubrication systems at the site.
  • Comply with all applicable safety policies (e.g., Lockout/Tagout, Machine Guarding, Fall Protection, etc).
  • Lead consolidation and support optimal stocking efforts for lubricants to minimize wastage.
  • Perform maintenance strategy optimization, with a focus on lubrication practice.
  • Identify and coordinate the improvement of machinery to enable best-practice lubrication (visual condition monitoring, contamination control, efficient fill/filter)
  • Trouble shoot and maintain lubricant dispensing equipment and automatic lubrication systems.
  • Label and/or tag lubrication reservoirs, piping, equipment, inventory and delivery containers.
  • Receive, evaluate, and recommend action on oil analysis results.
  • Promptly issue work notification or contact shift maintenance regarding discrepancies or conditions that require corrective, predictive or planned maintenance.
  • Facilitate and perform root cause analysis, and coordinate/execute improvement action identified.
  • Coordinate, advise, and perform training, and needed to upskill the crews in lubrication best practice.

About You  

Position requirements include, but are not limited to:   

  • Red-seal millwright, with 5 years mechanical trades experience, or engineering degree/diploma is preferred.
  • Strong fundamental understanding of the setup and operation of preventive maintenance systems and common preventive maintenance concepts.
  • Good oral and written communication, and good team building skills.
  • Capability to read and interpret technical documents, such as: OEM maintenance plans, Blueprints, Advanced Lubrication Technology instruction and recommendations, and Software system instructions.
  • Capability to perform basic mathematical functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages) for the purpose of interpreting alarms, calculating lubricant inventory, and calculating re-lubrication quantity considerations.
  • Capability to operate moderately complex software and web-based programs for lubrication scheduling and oil analysis functions.
  • Understanding of fundamental lubrication concepts and application of these concepts (such as Viscosity, NLGI #’s, V.I., AW, EP, R&O, ISO Cleanliness Codes, Beta Filter Rating, etc.).
  • ICML – MLT Level 1 or MLA Level 1 Certification Required, Level 2 Preferred.
  • Have a strong fundamental understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and circulating systems operation, contamination control and maintenance functions.
  • Demonstrated initiative and strong work habits in an unsupervised position.
  • Ability to safely lift, handle and operate tools, equipment and supplies encountered in the execution of the described duties.

  • Able and willing to work at a remote camp location on a 2-week rotation schedule.
  • Able to pass employment medical screening.
  • Legally licensed to operate company light vehicles both on and off site.
