Our Brucejack operation is now recruiting for an Information Technology (IT) Technician with a competitive base salary between $75,000 – $85,000 dependent on experience, skills, and competencies with consideration to internal equity with an additional short-term incentive of 10%.
The IT Technician role is dedicated to supporting the Brucejack Mine Information Technology environment and ensuring an exceptional customer experience and solutions. In this capacity, the technician collaborates closely with the Service Desk and Operational Technology teams to ensure optimal operational performance of the IT systems.
Perform following duties, with safety being the number one priority:
- Provide support for site IT facilities, including troubleshooting and support for desktop devices, mobile/phone devices, and printers.
- Maintain and update IT Service tickets, delivering on-site or remote IT support within specified timeframes.
- Handle installation, disposal, performance planning, and hardware upgrades to meet Newmont’s agreed service levels.
- Prioritize safety by adhering to safe working practices.
- Follow all IT standards and policies, including development and improvements.
- Participate in effective knowledge transfer related to new technology implementations and associated processes with peers.
- Stay up to date with the latest desktop technologies, service management best practices, and customer service skills.
- Collaborate on project activities and provide on-the-ground support during change activities.
- Ensure a positive customer experience by providing effective resolutions or workarounds.
- Work with internal and external IT Business Partners on IT solutions.

About You:
Position requirements include, but are not limited to:
- Bachelor's Degree or Technical qualification in Information Technology or Computer Science or demonstrable Technology work experience.
- Prior IT Support and Field Experience (3 – 5 years) supporting level 1 or 2 IT support calls (Essential)
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with colleagues, clients, and customers at all levels.
- All applicants must hold a valid driver’s license. The role requires the ability and willingness to drive within a mine site environment, adhering to safety protocols and understanding site-specific driving requirements.
- Self-driven individual focused on service with strong skills for issue resolution.
- Manage time effectively to ensure that no calls are in breach of SLA and customer calls are attended to in a timely and well-communicated fashion.
- Understand the shifting priorities of the role.
- Punctual attendance to ensure service to our customers at the times agreed.
- Ability to work autonomously.
- Highly self-motivated and directed with an attention to detail and a strong customer service orientation.
- Ability to effectively manage through conflicting priorities and customer needs.
- Delivers on support within agreed SLAs.
- Ensures ticket history is maintained.
- Ensures IT principal and other IT management are kept informed of P1/P2 cases, maintaining a timeline with artifacts to include in the post-incident review.
- Effective entry of and updates to configuration management database to ensure IT assets are well managed.
- IT technical knowledge articles.
- Maintains the effectiveness of all workstations and their associated standard hardware and software.
- Provide Training and Guidance to customers on Newmont’s end-user computing tools.
Additional Information
- Work at remote location (camp) on a 14 days on/14 days off rotation
- Able to pass a pre-employment medical screening.
- Must be able to lift/move up to 50lbs throughout a work shift.
- Be able maintain high levels of performance over 12-hour shifts.
- Able to work in areas of extreme weather conditions.
- Able to work in close quarters with a team.
