Our Brucejack operation is now recruiting for a Heavy Duty Mechanic Apprentice with a competitive wage of $35.31 dependent on experience, skills, and competencies with consideration to internal equity with an additional short-term incentive of 10%.
This position will have a strong focus on the maintenance and care of Power Generation equipment. Ensure all mechanical mobile equipment related to the building, construction and site operation(s) are maintained in safe and working order.
The position also ensures compliance with all Health & Safety and other relevant policies and regulations.
Perform following duties, with safety being the number one priority under the guidance of qualified Journeyperson:
- Check bulldozers, cranes, graders, excavators and other heavy construction, and mining equipment for proper performance and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions.
- Complete regular PM’s (Preventative Maintenance) on mobile equipment, generators, and other fixed equipment
- Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required.
- Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components, or systems, using hand and power tools.
- Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers' specifications.
- Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment.
- Participate in any other site-specific training.

About You:
Position requirements include but are not limited to:
- Basic mechanical knowledge in either Automotive, Heavy Duty or Power Generation.
- Must have a strong desire to learn all aspects of mechanical maintenance, care, and operation.
- Experience with Power Generation equipment would be an asset.
- Experience with Heavy Duty machinery would be an asset.
- Experience with maintenance of underground mobile equipment would be an asset.
- Valid driver’s license for any vehicle that may be utilized for the job.
- Certification in workplace hazardous materials information system (WHMIS)
- Certification in Transportation of dangerous goods (TDG)

- Work at remote location (camp) on a 14 days on/12 days off rotation
- Able to pass a pre-employment medical screening
- Must be able to lift/move up to 50lbs throughout a work shift
- Be able maintain high levels of performance over 12 hour shifts
- Able to work in areas of extreme weather conditions
- Able to work in close quarters with the team
