Due to the success and growth of our Canadian team, ERM is seeking a bright, motivated and well-rounded Environmental, Health and Safety Auditor (Bilingual in French and English) to join our Ontario/Quebec teams. ERM delivers a wide range of services related to EHS regulatory compliance, EHS program development, management systems, due diligence transaction evaluations auditing, training, and EHS risk management.  As a member of the team, you will develop protocols, programs and registers to support Client’s assurance programs, conduct or assist with environment, health and safety audits, provide support in the development of EHS management systems, evaluate baseline data of properties undergoing transactions, and support the continued growth of our Canadian team.  You will be supported, trained and mentored by your team members throughout your career, and be part of ERM’s global network of sustainability professionals. 

 

We are looking for a fully bilingual (French/English) staff who can support both our Quebec and Ontario teams.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Audit industrial facilities against applicable federal, provincial and local EHS regulations and company internal standards.
•  Develop environmental, health and safety programs related to a wide range of manufacturing industries including chemical, mining, pharmaceutical and food and beverage manufacturing sites.
• Assist in the preparation of environmental approvals and completion of regulatory reporting.
• Develop registers, protocols and programs to support EHS management systems.
• Support mergers and acquisitions due diligence projects that incorporate EHS components.
• Determine regulatory applicability and documenting rationale based on specific site conditions and operations.
• Communicate with clients, technical resources, and team members to control budget, schedule and scope.
• Responsibilities may reflect the candidate’s strengths (e.g., Environmental or Health & Safety) but an interest in the integrated EHS area is expected.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• University degree in a relevant field (e.g., science, engineering, occupational health, etc.). 
• Proven field experience conducting risk-based EHS compliance audits at industrial facilities.  
• Ability to assess, formulate and present clear audit findings
• Sound understanding of the Canadian regulatory environment.
• Excellent verbal and technical written communication skills (fluency in French and English is required).
• 3-7 years of relevant work experience either consulting or industry in an EHS role.
• Interpersonal skills with the ability to establish client relationships. Ability to interact with senior management as well as frontline employees in an industrial setting.  
• Ability to work independently or with a team to accomplish complex tasks.
• Flexibility to handle multiple assignments while meeting strict deadlines.
• Familiarity with standard office software applications such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel.
• Strong attention to detail, and time management skills.

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Knowledge of EHS management and environmental management systems.
• Transaction experience, completing Phase I Environmental Site Assessments at industrial facilities.
• Experience working in a global environment and with colleagues and clients in other countries.
• Participation or a leadership role in volunteer organizations demonstrating commitment to field of expertise.
• Maintain and develop client relationships.
• Willingness to travel and spend time out of the office (up to 30% of time).
• Professional Designation (or working towards) such as a CIH, P.Eng, EP(CEA) or similar
• French speaking and written skills.
• Ability to prioritize under the pressure of tight deadlines.

RESPONSABILITÉS:

• Auditer les installations industrielles par rapport aux réglementations SSE fédérales, provinciales et locales applicables et aux normes internes de l'entreprise.

• Élaborer des programmes en santé sécurité et environnement liés à un large éventail d'industries manufacturières, y compris les sites de fabrication de produits chimiques, miniers, pharmaceutiques et d'alimentation et de boissons.

• Aider à la préparation des approbations environnementales et à l'achèvement des rapports réglementaires.

• Développer des registres, des protocoles et des programmes pour soutenir les systèmes de gestion SSE.

• Soutenir les projets de diligence raisonnable pour fusions et acquisitions qui intègrent des composantes SSE.

• Déterminer l'applicabilité de la réglementation et documenter la justification en fonction des conditions et des opérations spécifiques du site.

• Communiquer avec les clients, les ressources techniques et les membres de l'équipe pour contrôler le budget, le calendrier et le cahier des charges.

• Les responsabilités peuvent refléter les points forts du candidat (par exemple, l'environnement ou la santé et la sécurité), mais un intérêt pour le domaine SSE intégré est attendu.

 

QUALIFICATIONS REQUISES:

• Diplôme universitaire dans un domaine pertinent (p. ex. sciences, ingénierie, santé au travail, etc.).

• Expérience avérée sur le terrain dans la réalisation d'audits de conformité SSE basés sur les risques dans des installations industrielles.

• Capacité à évaluer, formuler et présenter des conclusions d'audit claires

• Bonne compréhension de l'environnement réglementaire canadien.

• Excellentes compétences en communication verbale et technique écrite (la maîtrise du français et de l'anglais est requise).

• 3 à 7 ans d'expérience professionnelle pertinente dans le conseil ou l'industrie dans un rôle SSE.

• Compétences interpersonnelles avec la capacité d'établir des relations avec les clients. Capacité à interagir avec la haute direction ainsi qu'avec les employés de première ligne dans un environnement industriel.

• Capacité à travailler de façon autonome ou en équipe pour accomplir des tâches complexes.

• Flexibilité pour gérer plusieurs missions tout en respectant des délais stricts.

• Familiarité avec les applications logicielles de bureau standard telles que Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook et Excel.

• Souci du détail et compétences en gestion du temps.

 

QUALIFICATIONS SOUHAITÉES :

• Connaissance des systèmes de gestion SSE et de gestion environnementale.

• Expérience de transaction, réalisation d'évaluations environnementales de sites de phase I dans des installations industrielles.

• Expérience de travail dans un environnement mondial et avec des collègues et des clients dans d'autres pays.

• Participation ou rôle de leadership dans des organisations bénévoles démontrant un engagement envers le domaine d'expertise.

• Entretenir et développer les relations avec les clients.

• Volonté de voyager et de passer du temps hors du bureau (jusqu'à 30 % du temps).

• Désignation professionnelle (ou en cours d'obtention) telle qu'un CIH, P.Eng, EP(CEA) ou similaire

• Compétences orales et écrites en français.

• Capacité d'établir des priorités sous la pression de délais serrés.
