Electrical and Instrumentation Maintenance Superintendent – 986433

Our Brucejack operation is now recruiting for the position of E&I Superintendent with a competitive base salary between $145,000.00 – $185,000.00 dependant on experience, skills, and qualifications, with an additional short term incentive of 20% .  The offered base salary will be determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills and competencies with consideration to internal equity. 

Purpose of the Role

The E&I Superintendent’s primary responsibility is to coordinate and oversee Electrical/Instrumentation maintenance and from time to time under the direction of senior management perform construction activities at the Brucejack Mine. Maintenance activities include maintenance on electrical distribution system coming to site, power distribution on site, Mill power and instrumentation needs, Underground power support and power systems related to diesel generation. Your scope of responsibility includes but is not limited to Knipple, Bowser, Wildfire camps and Brucejack Terminal (BJT), High line from Smithers to site.

Accountabilities

Perform the following duties, with safety being the number one priority:

  • Ensure that a high safety culture is propagated within the department and throughout peer departments.
  • Oversee supervision of project and maintenance activities to ensure budgets and schedules are met and systems are working as per design requirements.
  • Consult and collaborate with the Operations team to identify priorities and coordinate project goals & objectives.
  • Lead the improvement and implementation of Maintenance and Material Resource planning for the Site Electrical/Instrumentation maintenance Team.
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings & sketches to determine layout options.
  • Supervise a team of Electrical/Instrumentation Trades and personnel and provide daily direction on planned work assignments as well as maintenance planning.
  • Support and contribute to the activities of the Planning and Reliability group.
  • Oversee the installation/maintenance of all electrical equipment and infrastructure materials ensuring build elements comply with manufacturer’s specifications and all relevant code requirements.
  • Develop, plan, and maintain scheduled and unscheduled preventive maintenance programs, including relevant Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for measuring system/equipment reliability and long-range performance.
  • Adjust plans and activities to meet the changing needs of the Site Electrical/Instrumentation Maintenance Team.
  • Consult with the Human Resources Department for assistance in resolving labor issues.
  • Coordinate labour, equipment and supplies for each project to ensure continuous workflow and remain on schedule.
  • Assess project progress and report any deviations from planned objectives if deemed necessary.
  • Participate in daily/weekly safety, toolbox and construction project meetings and present project status reports.
  • Provide guidance, training & mentorship to assigned personnel to ensure project tasks and goals are understood and accomplished successfully.
  • Ensure that all work is conducted in a safe manner in compliance with applicable Codes, Newmont’s Health & Safety policies, WCB and HSRC for Mines regulations.
  • Develop standard operating procedures (SOP’s) to ensure tasks are performed safely.
  • Evaluate system efficiencies and recommend changes to ensure that targets and deadlines are met.
  • Be fully experienced in CMMS – Computerized Maintenance Management System
  • Have fundamental experience in maintenance systems and Philosophies including but not limited to RCM, Six Sigma.
  • Have a full understanding of maintenance systems as it relates to warehousing functions and its relationship to the business.
  • Understand world class standards from a maintainability and reliability point of view.
  • Other duties as required.

About You  

Position requirements include, but are not limited to:   

Certification Red Seal in Electrical or Instrumentation trade qualifications with at least ten years’ experience supervising a maintenance team. Underground related experience would be an asset.

Skills

  • Strong demonstrated knowledge of workplace safety requirements and procedures
  • Demonstrated Management abilities in both technical and operational settings
  • Experience developing first class maintenance planning and material resource planning
  • Experience working and interacting with government regulators/inspectors
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills (English)
  • Exceptional organizational, leadership, supervisory and conflict management skills
  • Computer software skills (i.e. word processing, spreadsheets etc.)
  • Previous experience with SAP would be a benefit

  • This position follows a 13 day in 13 day out rotation schedule with 2 days travel and 12 hours work days.
