THE JOB

Hy-Tech is looking for an Accountant to join our team. This is a great opportunity to learn about Hy-Tech’s domestic and foreign operations for future career development as the Hy-Tech Group continues to grow. The Accountant is responsible for domestic and international accounting functions. They will work with the Finance team to create reports and provide meaningful and clear analysis of financial data. Specifically, the Accountant will help ensure that company accounting procedures conform to generally accepted accounting principles, complying with territorial legislation. The Accountant is responsible for ensuring all work is done in accordance with Hy-Tech procedures, following safe work practices, and always provides professional representation of Hy-Tech Drilling.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

  • Performing monthly general ledgers entries and reconciliations.
  • Preparing and entering journal entries, adjusting entries where required.
  • Assisting in the preparation of year-end working papers and spreadsheets.
  • Assisting in the preparation of job costing reports.
  • Collecting and analyzing account information to reconcile financial discrepancies.
  • Maintaining capital asset records/ledger.
  • Preparing and reconciling intercompany invoices.
  • Reviewing foreign affiliate financial statements.
  • Assisting in the preparation of monthly management reporting.
  • Attending inventory counts.
  • Studying and advising on existing and new federal and provincial tax and legal requirements.
  • Researching different US state tax filing requirements.
  • Maintaining accurate documentation for all financial transactions.
  • Identifying areas of concern with respect to risk management and internal controls.
  • Making efforts to improve job costing.

THE SETTING

  • This position will be based out of the global headquarters in Smithers, BC or the Branch location in Saskatoon, SK
  • Office work environment with some travel required.

THE SCHEDULE

Standard working hours are Monday to Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm, Monday-Friday.
There will also be some requirement to be available after hours and weekends during busy times.

WHAT YOU NEED

Education & Training

  • 2 years of experience in a bookkeeping role.
  • Enrollment in CPA program studies.
  • Working knowledge of new and existing federal and provincial tax/legal requirements for relevant financial activities.
  • Experience with ERP accounting software is an asset.
  • Strong computer skills, especially within Microsoft Office Suite, databases, spreadsheets, email and internet.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Criminal Record Check.
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s Licence and must provide a current Driver’s Abstract on an annual basis.
