The Opportunity
We currently have an opportunity for a Principal, Information Technology to join our Vancouver Regional Office.
The successful candidate will provide Provide safe, efficient, and cost-effective operational control of the Information Technology section / area in accordance with legal requirements and company objectives. Provide leadership and operational direction to the area work teams, ensuring resources, capacity and capability are aligned to the work plans. Responsibility for performance reporting and documentation; identify, report on and recommend corrections of variance to plan / process; drive and monitor continuous improvement focused on safety, value and cost reduction. Responsibility for sustaining value and developing the team competencies to meet current and future business needs.
The candidate will be responsible for the overall delivery of IT services at Newcrest regional sites and supporting Vancouver office to fulfil the requirements of the regional IS/IT and strategy.

- Collaborate with peers and management in identifying and pursuing cross discipline initiatives to deliver on business needs.
- Instill a no-nonsense high-performance culture of operational discipline and accountability; ensures effective communications across work areas, clarity of expectations and continuous review of performance measures to consistently deliver the business objectives.
- Lead, coach, mentor and support employees and direct reports to understand and deliver on the planning commitments.
- Drive the implementation strategies to maximise asset potential and deliver on the plans; aligning resources, people, succession plans and development.
- Identify the need for change to deliver on operational objectives; supports, drives and monitors change initiatives.
- Ensure effective safety and health management across areas of accountability through high standards of housekeeping, effective critical controls and proactive elimination of hazards.
- Promptly investigate all injuries, actual or high potential incidents within your area of responsibility and ensure that corrective actions are completed on time and verified.
- Provide leadership in the identification and management of risk through compliance with risk management processes and practices.
- Elevates developing issues and concerns to the Departmental Manager for consultation and advice to reach agreed interventions and solutions, report back on the effectiveness.
- Represent the IT function to key site stakeholders.
- Delivery of highly available, reliable, and secure IT services
- To assist in the delivery of IT projects in accordance with business requirements and needs
- Supervise the transition of IT services (including applications and infrastructure) from development, through release and deployment, to ‘steady state’ production, including the following processes and activities.
- Drive continual improvements.

About You
Position requirements include, but are not limited to:
- Bachelor of Computer Science or equivalent education
- 8-10 years of experience in IT Service Delivery Management ITIL
- Strong relationship management experience with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
- Previous coaching and mentoring experience
- Mining or Oil & Gas experience would be advantageous
