The Brucejack Mine is an operating underground gold and silver mine and is considered one of the highest-grade operating gold mines in the world. It is located 65 kilometers north of the town of Stewart in northern British Columbia.

The Opportunity

We currently have an opportunity for a Mill Operator 1 to join the Brucejack Mine in Northern British Columbia. 

The purpose of the position is to ensure safe, efficient, and effective operation of the processing circuits and equipment within the mill. Ensures equipment within the process circuits are competently operated at the highest standards to achieve the defined targets of the Brucejack Mill.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate safety leadership within a team environment and promote environmental awareness in all work or task related duties.
  • Competent operation of the processing circuits to achieve defined operating parameters.
  • Perform required checks and record detailed operating information and notes in log sheets.
  • Demonstrate initiative in maintaining a high standard of work in their daily duties.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to attendance and punctuality in accordance with Newcrest’s policies and expectations.
  • Be able to receive training for control room operations and provide mentorship to trainees in multiple circuits.
  • Communicate effectively (verbal and written).
  • Work with and assist the maintenance team as required to ensure equipment is in optimal operating condition to avoid unnecessary downtime or delays.
  • Inform co-workers and supervisors of any recognized issues.
  • Prepare working area and adhere to all job safety requirements prior to starting work and keeping the work area safe and free of hazards.
  • Participate in site specific training.
  • Perform related duties, including operation of other circuits or processes as required.

About You

  • Competent operation of process circuits and all fixed and mobile equipment in-line with Mill Operation’s Line of Progression.
  • Able to effectively trouble shoot and resolve process circuit upset conditions to minimize production losses.
  • Previous mineral processing experience is a requirement. Control room and supervision experience would be an asset. 
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Must have a valid drivers’ license.
  • Must be able to lift/move up to 50lbs throughout a work shift.
  • Strong understanding of all mineral processing circuits and unit operations employed at the Brucejack Mill.
